Condolence message by RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on sad demise of Pu. Shivakumara Swamy ji
I am deeply anguished by the passing away of Jagadguru Paramapujya Dr Shivakumara Swamy of Sri Siddaganga Mutt, who was considered as verily the God walking on earth. Our Nation in general and Hindu Society in particular has lost a great spiritual leader and social reformer par excellence.
Our second Sarasanghchalak parama pujya Guruji was very close to the swamiji and shared many spiritual and social concerns of our nation and society. The RSS remembers with deep reverence the long association it had with Swamiji and the blessings and support he bestowed on all our activities. I also, with all humility and reverence remember the close association he bestowed upon me. On behalf of RSS and myself I offer my revered homage to the departed great soul.

Srinagar, 14Feb 2019: In an Islamic terror attack in Awantipora, Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, at least 23 CRPF jawans lost their lives on Thursday evening, various news agencies reported. This is the biggest terror attack in the state in recent memory.

According to reports two buses in the Central Reserve Police Force convoy were hit in the high-intensity IED blast. Dozens of people were also injured in the attack. The death toll is expected to rise. The terrorists targeted a convoy of CRPF which had around 70 vehicles and nearly 2500 personnel, and was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar.

Pakistan backed Islamic terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the terror attack, in a text message to Kashmiri News Agency GNS.

RSS Sarkaryavah Sri Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi has issued condolences and urged for a fitting reply to such a terror attack.

16th Feb 2019, Bengaluru: Citizens for Democracy, Bengaluru conducted a very informative and insightful seminar today on Rafale and National security today under thunderous applause from houseful audience.

The seminar had luminaries with experience from the forces, PSUs and private industry. The list of elite speakers included Air Marshal B K Murali (retd), AVM SS Lahiri, Asst. Chief of Air Staff (retd), Sri S. Ravi, Former Executive Director, (Defence), BEML, Sri Ashok Saxena, Former Managing Director, HAL, Sri Mohan Nadgir, Former Executive Director, HAL and Sri Sujit Pant, Former Executive Director, HAL.

The panel unanimously thwarted corruption charges on the Rafale ‘deal.’

AVM Murali provided great indepth into the Rafale related development, including chronological order of events, cost factors and the baseless controversies, highlighting that there were no shortcuts and that there were no middlemen involved in the deal.

Sri Ashok Saxena spoke about the requirement of Rafale considering two front enemies India has been facing across her borders.

Sri Ashok Saxena who was with HAL as a Managing Director

AVM SS Lahiri mentioned that each of the aircraft was evaluated on 600 parameters. He also defended GOIs decision from the perspective of defense offsets also. He further said IAF is committed to defend the country and the fact that IAF is in favour of Rafale deal speaks about the clear and clean intentions.

Shri Sujit Pant spoke about the SC judgement and how in detail the SC studied the developments. He spoke about how some of the useless airborne equipment were bought by the previous goverments at high prices when the country lacked well laid procurement process. Post Kargil war, Vajpayee government initiated DPP (Defence Procurement Policy).

AVM Sri Lahiri

S. Ravi categorically rejected the false claims of corruption and supported his argument with facts and figures. He also talked about the prices at which different countries paid for each Rafale aircraft: Qatar bought its Rafales at $292 million ppu, with an extensive training maintenance and weapons package, but without offsets or workshare. Egypt bought their Rafales for $246 million ppu and India paid $243 million, with a less extensive package than Qatar, but with 50% offsets and significant India-specific modifications. He threw numbers to show how Congress has been putting up claims of corruption based on blatant lies. S. Ravi said that SC concluded that the process of decision making, IOP is in order. SC said that there is no reason for it to intervene. He also said that the 50 percent offset would bring in more technology to India. 72 companies are identified by Dassault for discharging offset obligation and not just one company, as falsely claimed by the some in the media.

The seminar ended with interactive question answer session, with varying topics from how Dassault shall reduce the supply time by 5 months to the well accepted turn around time during war situations.

Audience acknowledged the speakers for defending Rafale deal with data and metrics.

More than 45 security personnel were martyred in a suicide attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama in Kashmir on Feb 14. The entire nation is grief stricken over the loss of lives. There is now a state of proxy war in the country with security men sacrificing their lives somewhere or other so that we can live in peace.
We share the immense grief of the families of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The valiant men have died for the nation and it is the nation’s responsibility to take care of their old parents, their wife, children and their needs of education and livelihood.
We can individually support the families of the martyrs through the ‘Bharat ke Veer’ app or website launched by the Govt of India. There are options on the app to support the families of more than one martyr or to contribute to the Bharat ke Veer corpus fund.
The Karyakartas of Sangh and swayamsevaks have always come forward to fulfil their responsibility on such occasions. We are today facing one such crucial situation.
The Sangh calls upon all Karyakartas and all patriots to consider it their duty to extend all possible help and also demonstrate unity, forbearance and courage under these challenging circumstances.
Donations can be made directly to the Bharat ke Veer app managed by Union Home Ministry or on the website of Indian Bravehearts.

‘Uday and his friends’: Story of a swayamsevak who helped pilots during the jet crash

22 Feb 2019, Bengaluru: In an unfortunate incident earlier this week, two advanced jets associated with the Suryakiran aerobatic team crashed mid-air while rehearsing for the Aero India 2019. The hawks crashed near Yelahanka Air Force Station during rehearsal and two pilots managed to eject out while one passed away. We lost Wing Commander Sahil Gandhi. Although Wing Commander Vijay Shalke and Squadron Leader Tejeshwar Singh escaped from the clutches of death they landed on the ground with severe injuries.

Uday Kumar an RSS Swayamsevak from Yelahanka runs a gaushala for Desi cows and is a farmer who grows organically was at his home near ISRO layout, Yelahanka when the disastrous incident occurred. It was next to his house where both the pilots Vijay Shalke and Tejeshwar Singh landed. At mere 20 ft from where the pilot landed was the jet which had fuel in it and the cylinders blasted almost every now and then. Uday gathered a few of his friends to help the pilots. The bursting of cylinders and the jet going ablaze did not dither Uday. He had the courage and the presence of mind to extend help to the pilot who was fallen in the agricultural land. While on this mission he also noticed that there was another pilot who was lying on the tar road who was hurt more than the one who fell on the agricultural land.

Picture of the Surya kiran crash, Pic source: Internet

Uday alerted few more civilians around to extend help to the pilot who was on the road which was blocked from the agricultural land by barbed wires. To a question what Uday exactly did, he responds humbly and says they did nothing but help pilot remove his shoes, belt and other accessories and make him a little comfortable post catastrophic incident. Uday and his friends also asked if the pilots needed water and recollects that the fear in the faces of, he and his friends was not in the face of the pilot. Uday remembers the pilot remained calm, composed and may be a little worried on how things happened. While Uday was about to have the first aid help assured to the pilots, the ambulance from the Air Force arrived on spot and admitted them to the Command Hospital.

The act of Uday and his friends is commendable for the fact that many would run away from the scene which involved fire, blasts and life threatening. What gripped Uday he believes is soldiers who protect this country need to be respected and if such an act would do so, he feels exalted.

Uday was asked by friends, family, media if he had some videos of the incident as he was the first of all people who gathered there, for which Uday answered in negation and said he never felt the need for a footage where the dire need was to extend the support and not to gain false publicity and he attributes this to the learnings from Shakha.

Uday has received a letter of appreciation from Rajya Sabha MP representing Karnataka Sri Rajeev Chandrashekhar. Rajeev has commended the attitude of Uday and his friends towards extending their support physically, morally dedicating life and upholding the values of Bharatiyata. Sri Rajeev has wished Uday that his dignity ‘Touch the Sky with Glory’ as of the Indian Air Force’ slogan which goes ‘Nabha Sparsham Deeptam’

National Scenario

The Socio-political landscape of nation remains a mixture of some inspiring vents as well as some disquieting events which upset the social fabric. Sometimes the feelings of unrest, disappointment, apathy and anger dominate the social atmosphere. Efforts are needed at all levels to preserve the balance and to create an atmosphere of mutual trust amongst society.

Hindutva is neither secluded, rigid and nor uniform. Diversity and special modes of worship are our specialty. At local level, festivities, customs and traditions are varied across the states from east to west and from north to south. For hundreds of years the social life is flowing with such traditions and beliefs.

Reverence and values are the pivots of Hindu society. The accepted norms and traditions guide the social behavior. Hence, it is not just the legal process but social traditions and acceptance are also important here.

The Supreme Court, in the Sabarimala case, without taking into consideration all relevant entities and customs, delivered a judgment even without consideration of the different opinion of the lone women member of the bench.

It was not binding on the state Government to implement the decision in any stipulated time frame, but without understanding the nuances of the Judgment, the state Government has shown undue haste and political ill-will towards the Hindu society by facilitating forcible entry of non-Hindu and non-devotee women in the Temple.

In Ram-janmabhoomi case, instead of accelerating the judicial process to end the long drawn dispute, the Supreme Court has taken a surprising stand. That the Supreme Court should find no priority for this sensitive subject associated with deep faith of Hindu society is beyond understanding. We are experiencing that Hindus are constantly being neglected. While having full respect in the judicial system we would like to say emphatically that the Judgment on the dispute must expedite and remove the obstacles in constructing a grand Temple.

Recently the Ardh Kumbh concluded in Prayagraj. From the revered saints to the common devotees, all have witnessed sufficient and decent facilities, cleanliness and availability of clean flow of water for holy bath. A mammoth gathering has been peaceful and disciplined. The planning of the Government was quite appreciable.

On this occasion intellectual brainstorming sessions were also conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Government in association with various social institutions. Seminars were arranged on Samarasta, environment, youth and women issues. The saints of various sects came together in Kumbh to discuss the issue of ‘social inclusion.’

A grand ‘Netra Kumbh’ was organized with the help of various organizations which are active in the field of social service and health sector. Ophthalmic diagnosis service was given to 1,36,429 people and 1,01,705 spectacles were distributed. Eye surgery was also performed as per necessity.

Exclusive platform was provided to the artists and performers of the North East states. With many such initiatives, this ‘Ardh Kumbh’ has been a unique phenomenon.

Our nation will go through the election process in the coming months. It is always expected that elections should be held in healthy and congenial atmosphere. It is necessary that 100% voters exercise their constitutional right to cast vote. The development of nation and safeguarding its pride is possible only in the hands of a group which is honest and committed to the national interest. Therefore it is our national duty to be alert and to discharge our responsibility in the election process.

The external forces, with the help of some anti national internal elements, are giving shape to violent incidents. The attacks on the camps of Army and defense forces, intrusive attacks in the border areas by Pakistan Army, the recent Pulwama attack, the resultant deaths of citizens and security personnel, all this is very tragic. Nobody should take our tolerance as assign of our weakness.

All social and political forces have displayed a spirit of unity at such times. Along with that, it is necessary that Government should take stern action against anti national forces and people should feel a sense of security. Present Government is taking praiseworthy efforts in this direction.

It is necessary that along with administration, the common people should also be vigilant. The religious and social institutions which are doing the social awakening should do so more effectively and actively. Even educational institutions can play an important role in social awakening along with educational activities.

The Sangh karkaryakartas also should have more contact with the various positive social initiatives and activities. The well intentioned forces working in the national interest should succeed so that their impact will grow. We should be confident that we shall be able to bring all these positive forces together. In today’s favorable conditions if we do hard work then we will experience that we are moving ahead towards our goal.

Let us do our work as worship. The period in which we experienced neglect and apathy is over. Let us resolve to move ahead with courage, imagination and enthusiasm.

Let us remember Sant Kabir
